About AIM-AHEAD

The National Institutes of Health’s AIM-AHEAD program was established to create mutually beneficial and coordinated partnerships to empower researchers and communities across the United States in the development of AI/ML models and enhance the capabilities of this emerging technology, beginning with electronic health record (EHR) data.

As biomedical data continues to grow—through EHRs and other research sources—there is significant opportunity to advance data science approaches that can improve research and healthcare. AIM-AHEAD supports this work by helping address barriers such as cost, limited infrastructure and training, access to AI-ready data, and the need for trusted, transdisciplinary partnerships that bridge organizational silos.
